چکیده

Background Patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) and those who underwent atrial switch eventually face systemic ventricular failure due to deterioration of the morphological and structural function. Heart transplantation is at present one of the two best available options. We report our institutional experience of heart transplantation in this group, with emphasis on surgical techniques, risk factors and long-term outcome.

Patients after atrial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries can not increase stroke volume under dobutamine stress as opposed to patients with congenitally corrected transposition.

BACKGROUND Patients after atrial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries have limited exercise performance. Rigid atrial baffles may cause a relative preload reduction. Previous studies have had suboptimal control groups, which ideally should consist of patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) without previous heart surgery, having a syst...

Ventricular Assist Devices in Patients with Systemic Right Ventricular Failure due to Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries is increasingly recognized as an adult congenital heart problem. Although early atrial switch surgical repairs resulted in improved overall survival, these patients are further predisposed to systemic ventricular failure in their fourth and fifth decades of life. Early diagnosis and management of systemic ventricular dysfunction are oft...

The use of a CircuLite micro-pump for congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries.

We report a case of a 49-year old male with a congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) implanted with a left atrial to right subclavian artery ventricular assist device (CircuLite) because of the failure of the anatomic right (systemic) ventricle. Additionally, elevated pulmonary pressures and peripheral vascular resistance (7.4 Wood units) prevented him from being put...

Transposition of the great arteries.

Many patients with ventriculoarterial discordance have survived to adulthood. Those with complete transposition of the great arteries have often had an atrial switch procedure (Mustard or Senning operation) performed, which leaves the morphological right ventricle (RV) supporting the systemic circulation. RV failure and tricuspid regurgitation are common. Some patients may ultimately require ca...

Combined arterial switch and Senning operation for congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries: patient selection and intermediate results.

OBJECTIVE Late results after traditional methods of repair of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries are poor. The combined arterial switch and Senning (double switch) operation may improve outcomes by using the morphologically left ventricle and mitral valve in the systemic circulation. In this report we review patient selection and intermediate results after the double swi...
